Circus Serving Plate D28cm, Yellow

Hand-painted serving plate, made by a family of artisans in Granada, Spain. The circus design dates back to the 19th century. This type of colourful ceramics is part of the ‘fajalauza’ tradition of Granada, which stems from the city’s history of blending Spanish and north African culture. They speak of sunshine, long lunches and ‘sobremesa’: the Spanish word for the conversation over the table after a meal with family and friends.
